After his four-set victory over France’s Maxime Hamou, Jerzy Janowicz got a little aggressive with his vanquished foe, seemingly over something that he was offended by earlier in the match. Janowicz told reporters that Hamou had rocketed a serve return on a ball that was out right at him and didn’t apologize.
Hamou, meanwhile, felt Janowicz went over the line.
“I found it was a little edgy on his part,” he said. “There is nothing else I have to say at this point. I think a lot of players know him; I did not know him. I know him now.”
He added: “He served and I sent the ball back. You know, of course it was not deliberate. It was a fast ball, but he had plenty of time to move to the side. He gave me that look. You know, matches like that, there are plenty, especially when you're, you know, a growing player.”
In other news, Janowicz did a bit of impromptu comedy when an errant ball interrupted his serve in set two.
