At the inaugural Istanbul Open this weekend, Roger Federer found himself up against one of the most improved and dangerous clay-courters in tennis in Pablo Cuevas.

But judging from the above video—can you say sparkling D?—Federer had it covered. Let us not forget that Federer, who earned his 200th career clay-court victory earlier in the week, has put some pretty productive miles on his clay shoes as well.
He did so again in the final, running a “country mile” on his way to making that incredible sliding squash shot which kept him alive in the point which he then finished with a nasty backhand winner.
It was title No. 85 for Federer and he’s off to Madrid where he’ll step in as the top seed with a possible semifinal with Rafael Nadal in the wings.
