#TBT: Nadal’s Sizzling Madrid Tweener in ‘11
It’s not easy to find footage of
Rafael Nadal
hitting ‘tweeners, because the Spaniard is a substance over style kind of guy. He typically eschews the trick shots for sound ball striking. Case in point: today, when he struck a turnaround lob against
Simone Bolelli
.
But on this fine day in Madrid, circa 2011, Nadal wowed the Madrid faithful with one of the most perfectly sublime ‘tweeners you will ever see.
It was so good that Novak Djokovic took time out from his busy afternoon to applaud Nadal.
Djokovic, in the midst of a sublime winning streak of his own at the time, would eventually win the match, but this gorgeous play has to be one of the best lobs Rafael Nadal has ever hit.
