After his straight sets victory over Argentina’s Leonardo Mayer on Day 7, Rafael Nadal opened up in press, saying that the reason his serving slowed down in parts of the match was that his back has been bothering him. The eight-time Roland Garros champion went on to say that the back has been hindering him since the beginning of the tournament.
