Though neither had the performance they hoped for at this week's Internazionali BNL d'Italia, both Roger Federer and Simona Halep got great news by the weekend that each will get a top four seed at Roland Garros.
Federer was recently adamant that he is not worried about seeding at all.
But anything that helps avoid Rafael Nadal at the French Open for another round (Federer could have potentially faced Nadal in the quarters if he were seeded lower than four, but now he won't see Nadal until the semis at the very least) can only work in Federer's favor.
As for Halep, who got her fourth seed by earning enough points at Rome to surpass Victoria Azarenka in the rankings, the same theory applies. The longer she can avoid Serena Williams, the better chances she'll have of getting through to the last four.
The French Open main draw will begin on May 25th.
