Novak Djokovic is all good for Rome, but Juan Martin del Potro still has a long way to go before he plays his next competitive match. The Tower of Tandil posted a YouTube video of the early stages of his recovery on Facebook and wrote the following:

“Hello everyone! Here's a video of the first stage of my recovery. It's a long way to go, but I am working hard to return in the best possible way. Thanks for your messages!”


While it's a step in the right direction from the former U.S. Open champion, it's clear from the video that Del Potro has a long way to go before he ever holds a racquet in that wrist of his.

If history is any indication, Del Potro should need about four months before he is ready to compete again, and much longer to regain his top form. He underwent surgery on March 24. In 2010, Del Potro underwent a similar procedure on his right wrist on May 4, and he made his return to the tour in Bangkok in late September. But after losing two straight matches, the Argentine packed it in for the remainder of the season.
