A women's French Open final hasn't gone 3 sets since 2001

Venus Williams has failed to reach the quarterfinals of the last 10 Grand Slams. Her last final eight appearance as at the 2010 US Open when she lost in the semifinals to eventual champion Kim Clijsters.

With his win on Friday, Rafael Nadal is now 54-1 lifetime at the French Open, a winning percentage of 0.982.

Since they first met in the 2005 Roland Garros semifinals, Roger Federer is 0-5 at the French Open against Rafael Nadal and 45-2 against everyone else.

No American man has reached at least the quarterfinals of the French Open since No. 2 Andre Agassi did so in 2003. That was so long ago that only one player - Tommy Robredo - from that final eight is still active on the ATP tour.

Since the last American man made a Roland Garros quarterfinal, players from 17 other countries: Brazil, Argentina, Australia, Spain, Great Britain, Switzerland, Romania, Russia, Croatia, France, Serbia, Chile, Latvia, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Austria and Italy have achieved the final eight.
