Nikolay Davydenko entered the ATP World Tour winner's circle this past weekend and captured the title at the BMW Open for the first time since Doha in 2010. He made it through five close matches, ending with his 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 defeat of German No. 1 Florian Mayer in the final.
Davydenko, known for his consistency with ground strokes, has now won at least one ATP World Tour title nine years running. This win came with aDunlop Biomimetic 200 Plus racket. "In finals I just feel stronger, more relaxed, my confidence is very high and I just go out there fighting," said Davydenko. "It was a very important result here and I'm just so happy." Davydenko moves up to 28th, 12 places from his previous standing, in the ATP World Tour rankings.
"This is the fourth win for our Tour Team this season, and the overall performance of our players using their new Biomimetic rackets has been phenomenal," said Kai Nitsche, Dunlop's Vice President of Racket Sports. "Feedback from consumers and media on the Biomimetic line has matched the results we've had on Tour; sales are up considerably and a strong buzz is building about the rackets and string amongst tennis players. 2011 is shaping up to be one of our best years ever."
