Rafael Nadal is ready to play at this week's Miami Open after suffering an ankle twist during a practice session.

The Spanish star spoke to reporters shortly after finishing another practice session on Tuesday. Despite early photos showing Nadal lying on court in pain, he was able to get up, exit on his own and take time to sign autographs for nearby fans.
“In the beginning I thought it was going to be the end of the tournament,” Nadal told Reuters.com. “But I don’t know now, I don’t think so. I think I am going to be able to compete here.
“Today, if I have to say one thing, for sure I am going to be on court on Friday."
Nadal, who reached the Indian Wells semis this past weekend, is still not feeling 100% confident entering his upcoming second round match. Nadal did undergo a scan of his ankle and was assured by doctors that his injury was not that serious.
"It is still painful but I practiced here today for a little bit more than one hour," Nadal added.
"It bothers me but I didn’t push myself very hard. I don’t know how I am going to answer when I try to get at 100 percent, which is what I need to compete well. But I am confident I am going to be ready.”
Nadal will play the winner of the first round match between Nicolas Almagro and Sergiy Stakhovsky.
Despite Nadal's many career accomplishments, Miami remains an elusive title for his resume. The former No. 1 has reached the Miami finals four times but has to win the event.
"Every week I am competing," the 28-year-old Nadal said. "I am improving a little bit. That gives me confidence, positive feelings and positive energy."
