We may not have a true crossover star on our hands, but we must hand it to Denis Shapovalov—he’s got courage. Watch as the Canadian celebrates his 6-4 6-2 victory over Marin Cilic with a little celebratory rap.
There was a lot of positivity on social media as this clip hit Twitter, but Nick Kyrgios was quick to put the kibosh on Shapavalov the rapper.
But his compatriot Bianca Andreescu, fresh off a big win herself on Tuesday, countered Kyrgios’ critique with some praise for her buddy.
“I actually just watched it before I got in here,” Andreescu said in press. “It really put a smile on my face. That's for sure. It's nice. It's a different thing. It brings entertainment to the game. He's really good. I have no doubt he's -- I don't think he's gonna stop, which is -- that's his thing. I'm happy for him.”
More importantly, Shapovalov will face Hubert Hurkacz in the round of 16—it’s another great opportunity for him to reach a quarter-final at the Masters level.
