Roger Federer fears no man on the tennis court, but there is one man he's eager to avoid at all costs.
Olympic gold medal doubles partner Stan Wawrinka.
Novak: I Welcome Roger, Rafa Input
The former Swiss Davis Cup teammates met last week in Indian Wells with Federer prevailing 6-3, 6-4, for his 22nd win in 25 meetings with Wawrinka.
The friends could square off again in the Miami Open third round if both win their openers.
Though rivals Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic both hold career winning records over the Grand Slam king and the 37-year-old Swiss is 22-0 vs. Wawrinka on all surfaces other than clay, Federer says it's his buddy Stan who stands as the one opponent he never wants to face.
Asked if he's looking forward to another clash with Wawrinka, Federer replied "no, not really."
"I prefer not to have (Stan) in my draw," Federer told the media in Miami today. "I prefer to never have him in my section. But it is what it is and my focus has got to be the first round not the second one.
"But it’s true as a player you always look at your first couple of rounds so there is a chance there and a possibility so we’ll see what’s gonna happen. But it's definitely not ideal that we’re maybe gonna play each other in back-to-back tournaments."
