Rising Alex de Minaur Speaks out against Davis Cup Changes

Aussie Alex de Minaur echoes the sentiments of his coach and mentor Lleyton Hewitt when it comes to proposed changes to Davis Cup. Leave it as it is, says De Minaur.

“Yeah, completely against [the proposed changes],” he said. “I think it’s a way to ruin a competition with an amazing amount of history. I’m not for it.”

The ITF's board has approved plans for a one-week competition played between 18 nations at a neutral location, with ties consisting of two singles and one doubles. The plans will be submitted to the ITF Annual General Meeting, to be held in August in Orlando, Florida. A two-thirds majority will be required for final approval.

We’re looking forward to hearing the opinions or more top ATP and WTA players this week at Indian Wells, and we’ll bring you those quotes when they come available.
