They may be teammates, but Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic are not looking eye to eye at the moment after Australia’s loss to the U.S. in Davis Cup.

John Isner of the U.S defeated Tomic in four sets in their reverse singles rubber. That clinched a 3-1 win for the U.S. putting them into the Davis Cup quarterfinals.

During the match however, Tomic took out his frustrations against Kyrgios during a exchange with Australia captain Lleyton Hewitt. “Twice he’s done it. Two times he’s faked it,” Tomic told Hewitt in reference to Kyrgios not competing in the tie due to illness. “Two times Nick has faked an illness. While I’m here Nick’s sitting in Canberra. (Expletive) he’s sick.”

That exchange was broadcast on television and posted online later by The Age.

After Tomic’s loss. Kyrgios himself took to Twitter to lash back at Tomic’s claims.

In their post-match press conference, Tomic revealed that he spoke with Kyrgios on the phone to air his views.

"It was just in the heat of the moment I said it," Tomic said. "Obviously I would have loved him to be here, but he is obviously sick like he says he is, and for me I think just now it will be seeing if he actually plays Indian Wells because a similar situation happened last year where he didn't come to Czech and he had stress fractures and somehow played Indian Wells and felt good. So now it's going to be really funny for me to see the next two days whether he plays or not, which I think he will."

While Tomic stressed that he has a good relationship with Kyrgios, he repeated that he would lose some respect for Kyrgios if he plays next week.

"We finished (the phone call) pretty well, on good terms. But it's just weird. One of the questions I asked him was “are you playing Indian Wells?’” and he was like “yeah, I should. I'm still sick but I'm gonna be better tomorrow”. It's just weird for me. I've said enough. At the end of the day it's just disappointing to not have him here. He's an amazing player and it would have been important to have him here."
