Maria Sharapova is set to make an annoucement at a press conference Monday in Los Angeles according to her official website.

Aside from the event’s time, 12:00 Noon PST, no other details were given.

News of the annoucement generated much speculation on social media as to what the former world No. 1 would reveal. Sharapova recently withdrew from next week’s upcoming Indian Wells tournament due to a forearm injury.

This is the same injury that has forced her to skip multiple events starting back in the summer of last year. Sharapova’s last match was a quarterfinal loss to Serena Williams at the Australian Open.

Some on social media speculated Sharapova might be announcing her retirement. Others think she might be ending her season early to focus on recovery. There’s also the possibility the Russian superstar will announce news about her successful candy line “Sugarpova”.

Sharapova recently attended the Vanity Fair Oscars party last week.
