Michael Chang won the 2014 PowerShares Series Finale the way he used to win titles during his days on the ATP tour - by outthinking his opponent.

The 42-year-old Chang used groundstrokes to bamboozle Australia's Mark Phillippoussis 6-2 in the final held in Surprise, Arizona. Phillippoussis owned a 5-4 record against Chang when both men were members of the ATP tour.

The 37-year-old Phillippoussis was broken by Chang with the match tied 1-1 and never recovered. Chang dedicated the win to his grandmother, who died earlier this week. He defeated Jim Courier in the semifinals, 7-5. Chang also won the final in 2011.

John McEnroe, at age 55, finished first in the PowerShares overall point standings with 1,600 points, winning four tournaments on the season. James Blake was second, Andy Roddick third and Andre Agassi fourth.
