Daniela Hantuchova has never reached the finals of a Grand Slam event in her 15-year pro career. Now she's hired a coach whose pupils have one a title or two over the years.
Hantuchova announced over the weekend that she has hired Peter Lundgren as her new coach, sending out a message via Twitter stating "I'm going to work with Peter Lundgren, who's coached the one and only @rogerfederer and many other great players!"
Hantuchova reached No. 5 in the world in 2003 at age 19 and is currently 33rd.
She reached the quarterfinals of the US Open in 2013 after not getting past the fourth round at any Slam since the Australian Open in 2008.
Lundgren replaces Eduardo Nicolas. The 49-year-old Lundgren, who hails from Sweden, first came to prominence as a coach when he helped Marcelo Rios into the Top 10.
He coached Federer from 2000 to 2003, which included Federer's breakthrough win at Wimbledon in 2003.
From there, he has coached Marat Safin, Marcos Baghdatis, Grigor Dimitrov and Stanislas Wawrinka. Since 2011, Lundgren had been working as a tennis pro in Houston, Texas' elite Galleria Tennis & Athletic Club.
