Tara Moore Provisionally Suspended

Tara Moore's playing career is on pause.

Moore has been provisionally suspended from the pro circuit after a urine sample she submitted in April contained Nandrolone metabolites and Boldenone and its metabolite, which are prohibited substances, the International Tennis Integrity Agency announced today.

The ITIA confirmed that the 29-year-old British tennis player has been provisionally suspended under Articles 2.1 and 2.2 of the 2022 Tennis Anti-Doping Program (TADP). The ITIA sent Moore a pre-charge notice of an Anti-Doping Rule Violation on 27 May under Article 2.1 of the Program (presence of a Prohibited Substance in a Player’s Sample) and Article 2.2 (Use of a Prohibited Substance without a valid TUE).

Moore, who has a WTA doubles ranking of 83, provided a sample while competing at a WTA tournament in Bogota, Colombia in April 2022. The sample was split into A and B samples and the subsequent analysis found that the A sample contained Nandrolone metabolites and Boldenone and its metabolite, which are prohibited substances listed in the 2022 World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List. Adverse Analytic Findings for non-specified substances carry a mandatory provisional suspension.

Moore can request that the B sample is analyzed to see if that confirms the A sample. In the meantime, she is ineligible to compete in or attend any sanctioned tennis events organized by the governing bodies of the sport from the start of the provisional suspension on May 27th, 2022.

The ITIA is the delegated third party, under the World Anti-Doping Code of the International Tennis Federation, the international governing body for the sport of tennis and signatory of the Code. The ITIA is responsible for the management and administration of anti-doping across professional tennis in accordance with the 2022 TADP.
