In an upset that took two days to complete, China’s Wang Qiang has taken out No.14-seeded Belinda Bencic, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 at Wimbledon.



Wang, who entered the contest with a 3-5 lifetime record and three first-round defeats in five appearances at Wimbledon, will face Tamara Korpatsch or Heather Watson in the second round.

The victory is Wang’s first victory over a seed at Wimbledon. The World No.140, a former World No.12, is a 2019 US Open quarterfinalist.
