Naomi Osaka had high hopes about her chances on clay and grass in 2022. But a leg injury has sabotaged the four-time Grand Slam champions’ best-laid plans this summer.
After struggling with an Achilles injury on the clay, where she went 1-2 and lost in the first round at Roland-Garros, Osaka has withdrawn from Wimbledon
"My Achilles still isn't right so I'll see you next time," Osaka posted on Twitter.
She joins Eugenie Bouchard among recent main draw withdrawals, which means that Bernarda Pera and Laura Pigossi are in.
