World No. 1 Iga Swiatek has been in a class by herself this spring.
The reigning Roland Garros champion will launch summer season as the top seed at Wimbledon for the first time.
More: Serena Announces Wimbledon Return
Swiatek heads the Wimbledon ladies' seeds announced today.
The 21-year-old Swiatek is followed by second-seeded Estonian Anett Kontaveit and third-seeded Ons Jabeur. Spain boasts two seeds in fourth-seeded Paula Badosa and No. 9-seeded Garbine Muguruza. The United States also features a pair of Top 10 seeds in seventh-seeded Danielle Collins and No. 8-seeded Jessica Pegula.
A sharp Swiatek outclassed 18-year-old Coco Gauff 6-1, 6-3 to lift La Coupe Suzanne Lenglen for the second time in the last three years—and stretch her winning streak to 35 matches.
Swiatek’s 35th consecutive win equals Venus Williams record for the longest WTA winning streak of the century and she will try to sustain her roll at Wimbledon where she won the girls' title in 2018, dropping just one set along the way.
Wimbledon starts on Monday, June 27th.
There will be a new ladies' champion next month as reigning champion Ashleigh Barty retired shortly after capturing the Australian Open title in January.
