Things are relatively stable in this week’s WTA rankings (release date: June 13), with only one minor move inside the Top-25 (Aryna Sabalenka +1 to No.5, Maria Sakkari -1 to No.6), but there were some important moves inside the Top-50.

Zheng Cracks Top-50

China’s Zheng Qinwen has been a player on the rise for quite some time now. The 19-year-old, who turned heads in Paris when she reached the second week on her main draw debut after taking out former champion Simona Halep in the second round, won a 125K title over the weekend on clay in Valencia, and rises eight spots in the ranking to a career-high 46.

Zheng is one of four teenagers inside the Top-50, along with Coco Gauff, Emma Raducanu and Leylah Fernandez.

The 19-year-old (turns 20 on October 8) is now the top-ranked Chinese woman.

China’s Wang Xiyu also hit a milestone on Monday – she made her Top-100 debut, making it five Chinese woman in the Top-100 in total.

Maia Biggest Riser

Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia jumps to a career high ranking of 32 from 48 on the strength of her maiden WTA title on Sunday at Nottingham (d. Alison Riske). The Brazilian southpaw is the first woman to win a title on grass since the legendary Maria Bueno in 1968.

She is the only Brazilian woman inside the Top-100.

Alison Riske, who fell to 3-10 lifetime in WTA finals with her loss to Haddad Maia, picks up five spots, moving from 40 to 35.
