Kyrgios erupted over what he complained was a blown call and was fined $7,500 for two separate incidents in the victory.
Though he defeated the Spanish lucky loser, 7-6 (4), 6-3, Kyrgios was still stewing when he took the court to face 18-year-old Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in his second match of the day. Kyrgios was fined $10,000 after he belted a ball out of the stadium in anger during his 6-7 (4), 7-6 (3), 7-5, loss to Auger-Aliassime that ended with the Canadian scoring the lone service break of the match.
