After a very scary fall during quarterfinal action at the Aegon International at Eastbourne on Thursday, Johanna Konta pulled out of Friday’s semifinal with Karolina Pliskova due to an injury to her thoracic spine.

“Definitely just looking to recover well and will just take it one day at a time,” she told the BBC on Friday.

She did not suffer a concussion on the fall, but said she is still monitoring the situation and indicated that she hadn’t ruled out a concussion.

“I’m not diagnosed of a concussion yet, but we’re definitely monitoring my symptoms,” she said.

Konta, who is set to face Hsieh Su-Wei in the first round at Wimbledon, isn’t totally sure what to expect over the next couple of days.

She is the No.6 seed at Wimbledon.

“It’s a big tournament next week for all of us, but it’s something that I have to disregard when it comes to my health,” Konta said. “My health has always got to come first and I’m definitely doing everything that I can to be ready for Wimbledon but I am definitely taking it one day at a time and [will decide based on] whatever’s best for my health.”
