Wimbledon Dresses Recalled For Being Too Short

The first real fashion controversy at Wimbledon has started even before the tournament begins next week. And this time, it's not because of the All-England Club's famous rule for wearing only white on court.

Wimbledon: Top Five Women's Contenders

According to the Washington Post, Nike has been forced to recall its planned "Premier Slam" women's outfit before play begins at Wimbledon. The recall is due to the issue some players have had that the dress doesn't provide enough fabric and rode up over their waists during play.

At Wimbledon qualifying earlier this week, several players were seen wearing the dress. But they had to improvise to keep the dress in place or add additional garments. Lucie Hradecka wore the dress along with long leggings. UK's Katie Boulter used a hairband as a makeshift belt to keep the dress from rising up too high during play.

Over 20 players including Eugenie Bouchard were scheduled to wear the dress on court. World No. 1 Serena Williams, also a Nike player, will wear a longer version of the dress specially customized for her.

The Daily Mail UK reported that the All-England Club has now taken issue with the dress as well.

Nike asked its roster of players to return the dresses so that alterations can be made before main draw play commences on Monday.
