Williams Sisters Withdraw From Wimbledon Doubles


A prospective Venus and Serena Williams Wimbledon reunion can only happen on the singles court.

The five-time Wimbledon doubles champions withdrew from the doubles draw today. Lucky losers Misaki Do and Stephanie Vogt replace the Williams sisters in the field.

Venus and Serena won their last Wimbledon doubles in 2012. They pulled out of their second-round doubles match last year as Serena was suffering from an apparent unexplained illness.

The Williams sisters have each won five Wimbledon singles crown and could meet again in the fourth round.

"That would be a very tough test for both of us," Serena said of a potential meeting with Venus.
