But Wozniacki was able to get the lay-up lob around her racquet and into the open court for a winner.

It made for a nice exchange at the net, and produced one of the year’s best photographs as well:

Wozniacki won the battle of former Eastbourne champions in three, 6-7(3), 6-3, 6-1, to set up a quarterfinal with Andrea Petkovic at Eastbourne.

Other winners on Wednesday were Belinda Bencic, who advanced when Eugenie Bouchard was forced to retire with an abdominal injury down 6-4, 3-0 in set two, Johanna Konta, who upset Garbine Muguruza to reach he second quarterfinal of the grass season, and Agnieszka Radwanska, who notched an impressive 6-2, 6-1 victory over Karolina Pliskova.
