Recently returned from a long layoff due to shoulder surgery, 37-year-old Tommy Haas closed out a four-set victory over Dusan Lajovic of Serbia to reach Wimbledon’s second round.
His Twitter handle reads “father and still tennis player,” and Haas proved that much today with only his second victory since returning to the tour at Stuttgart three weeks ago. The German had been out since the 2014 French Open. He had planned to return to March, but ended up needing more time to get his shoulder in shape.
Haas, currently ranked 861 in the world, will face 7th-seeded Milos Raonic in the second round.
