At 36, Andy Murray is still looking for new ways to befuddle his opponents. He’s turning over every rock in his quest to finish his career on his terms.
He revealed the details on Tuesday, after his easy first-round win over Ryan Peniston.
“A little bit,” he said of the degree of the change he has made. “I made a slight change at the beginning of the grass season. I was just messing around in practice. Seemed to work, so... Stuck with it.
Murray says he did it just to minimize his foot slide, and not to minimize back arch.
“I don't know if that has been a consequence of me making any change,” he said. “I wasn't trying to get less arch in my back. I was just trying to take less of a step. I used to sort of sway quite far back on my serve with my back leg, also the arm I toss the ball from would come back with me quite far.”
