Serena Recovery from Wimbledon Tumble Going Well Says Agent

By Erik Gudris | Friday, July 16, 2021

Serena Williams aims to compete at the US Open after a nasty tumble forced her out of Wimbledon a few weeks ago.

The 39-year-old Williams slipped on the fame Centre Court in her first round meeting against Aliaksandra Sasnovich. Williams sustained a leg injury that prevented her from continuing the match.

Per TMZ.com, Jill Smoller, Williams' long-time agent is hopeful that the six-time US Open champion will be ready for New York next month.

"She's doing great," Smoller said in a quick interview in Los Angeles.

Smoller added that Williams is "just doing rehab" to recover from the injury. The exact nature or extent of Williams's injury is still unclear.

Four-time Olympic gold champion Serena is not competing at the Summer Games in Tokyo. If she does play in New York, Williams will once again vie for a potential record tying 24th major singles title, equaling the total set by Margaret Court.
