As his wife and four children looked on, Roger Federer broke down in tears after claiming his record eighth Wimbledon title on Sunday at Wimbledon. The Swiss maestro needed a moment before he was able to gather himself and speak eloquently to the crowd.

When he finally had the chance to speak he was quick to talk about belief. “Again it’s just belief that I can achieve such heights,” Federer said. “I wasn’t sure if I was ever going to be here again in another final after last year. … I always believed that I could maybe come back and do it again, and if you believe you can go really far in your life and I did that and I’m happy. I kept on believing and dreaming and here I am today with the eighth [Wimbledon title], it’s fantastic.”
