Per AP, the Court of Arbitration for Sport said that Sharapova and the International Tennis Federation agreed to defer the decision, a decision originally scheduled for next Monday. Both parties in the case cited “scheduling conflicts” and wanted more time to prepare their cases.
''Due to the parties requiring additional time to complete and respond to their respective evidentiary submissions, and several scheduling conflicts, the parties have agreed not to expedite the appeal,'' CAS said in the statement.
A final verdict is expected on September 19.
This decision by all is making it looking unlikely Sharapova will be cleared in time to play at the upcoming US Open starting on August 29.
Sharapova, a five-time major winner, was given a two-year ban after she admitted she took meldonium before each match at this year’s Australian Open. Her ban by the World Doping Agency began as of January 1.
