Former world No. 1 Amelie Mauresmo is expecting her first child and could not make the trip to Newport for her official induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame over the weekend.

So a good friend spoke on her behalf.

Marion Bartoli, who played for Mauresmo on the French Fed Cup team and worked with the two-time Grand Slam champion during her run to the 2013 Wimbledon title, paid tribute to Mauresmo in this video in front of her plaque at the Hall of Fame.

"She is one of the French jewels," Bartoli said. "She is an amazing ambassador for French tennis... She's really able to give that power to you. And I really felt when I had her as my captain, I never had a doubt I would win the match."

Seven years before Bartoli won Wimbledon, Mauresmo defeated Justine Henin to capture the Rosewater Dish.
