Video: Djokovic and Dimitrov Slip-Sliding Away During Wimbledon Semifinal


Novak Djokovic played a wild, woolly four-set battle with Grigor Dimitrov on Friday in the first men’s singles semifinal of the day, with the Serb eventually emerging with the hard-fought, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(2), 7-6(7) victory.

Though the match featured some inspired shotmaking and athletic moving, it was not without it’s comical moments, as both players struggled to keep their footing on the bare patch of dry dirt at the baseline. Oh, the slippery grass near the nets caused some problems, too.

And, Djokovic and Dimitrov, both very aggressive and physical movers, played their part. Both players are built to stop and start on the hard court, where traction is available and their feats of athleticism can be more calculated. But on the grass, as we saw in this point, all heck tends to break loose when things get frantic:





That wasn’t the only interesting highlight of the Djokovic-Dimitrov semifinal. We also dug up these quirky Vines to provide you with a few laughs:



In the second semifinal of the day Roger Federer cruised by Milos Raonic, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, to reach his record 9th Wimbledon final and 25th Grand Slam final. The mighty Fed kept his balance quite well, leading some to speculate that he might have been playing on a different surface than Dimitrov and Djokovic.
