Rankings Report: Pablo Cuevas Continues Title Streak

Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas won his second ATP World Tour title in three weeks in Umag last week, and raised his ranking by 20 spots as a result. As a qualifier, the 28-year-old Cuevas defeated Andreas SeppiFabio Fognini and Tommy Robredo en route to taking home the title. Cuevas raises his ranking fron No. 60 to No. 40, a new career high.

Just as 17-year-old Alexander Zverev did a week before in Hamburg, another teenager made waves on the ATP World Tour last week. 17-year-old Borna Coric made the quarterfinals in Umag as a wildcard, upsetting Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Horacio Zeballos along the way. The 2013 US Open boys' champion fell to Fognini in three sets, but his ranking improves from No. 230 to No. 194 on the back of the best result in his young career.

With only one change in the WTA top 30 in the past week, much of the women's ranking news comes from the middle tier. China's Peng Shuai, who captured the
inaugural title at the WTA 125 Series event in Nanchang, China, is the biggest mover of note. Peng, who was ranked World No. 1 in doubles earlier this season, is now safely back inside the top 50 in singles; she moves up nine places from No. 50 to No. 41.

At the other WTA event being held last week, Bojana Jovanovski and Francesca Schiavone benefitted from strong in Baku. Jovanovski reached her second final in the Azerbaijan city, and despite ending as runner-up to Elina Svitolina sees her ranking rise from No. 40 to No. 36. Schiavone, who lost in the semifinals to Svitolina, moves up from No. 75 to No. 70.
