Former World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka is excited about competing again in World Team Tennis.
Azarenka spoke Tuesday in an interview with the South Jersey Times prior to her match with the Philadelphia Freedoms against the San Diego Aviators. During her recent layoff due to injury, Azarenka received an email from tennis legend Billie Jean King asking if she would play this summer.

"Once I had an e-mail from her, it was a no-brainer," Azarenka said. "It was yes, yes, what date? Yes. That's it."
The two-time Australian Open champion returned to tennis last month after sitting out several months with a foot injury. Though she lost in the second round of Wimbledon, Azarenka looks forward to more competition this summer.
"It's the beginning," Azarenka said. "You know, it's the process. I feel good about starting this process. The whole summer I'm very excited about. I don't look so much further than this moment right now. I push myself to do the best I can do in this particular moment."
Currently ranked No. 10, Azarenka is not surprised by several new players having breakthrough results this season. Though World No.1 Serena Williams has struggled of late at the Grand Slams, Azarenka expects Serena to bounce back.
"I don't think we've seen the last of Serena…When I get back on tour she'll be there, so I'm looking forward. The competition is just rising. It's exciting."
By winning both her singles and mixed doubles matches, Azarenka helped her Philadelphia Freedoms team defeat the San Diego Aviators 19-18 on Tuesday.
