Does anyone in the Eastern Conference want to make the playoffs?
For the second straight night, New York, Boston and Philadephia all lost their matches, depriving each a chance to get a leg up in the race for the second and final Eastern Conference playoff spot.
New York suffered a nip and tuck 22-20 loss to Texas, while Springfield blew out Boston 23-15 and Washington did likewise to Philadelphia (23-13).
All three teams are now 4-8 with two matches to play. At this point, Philadelphia might have the best shot, as the Freedoms have two matches at home, one each against Boston and New York.
Both the Lobsters and the Sportimes have matches against Eastern Conference leader Washington (10-2).
The Sportimes forced overtime against Texas thanks to a 5-2 women's doubles victory, to close within 21-18, and won the first two points of overtime - also women's doubles to narrow it to 21-20. Finally, Texas' Eugenie Bouchard and Darija Jurak posted a game win to clinch the victory.
Springfield improved to 8-4 in the Western Conference, maintaining a half-game lead over 8-5 Texas. .
Both teams clinched playoff spots when Sacramento upset Orange County late Monday night.
