You know you’ve made it big in the eyes of the Brits when the Royal Mail puts your face on a postal stamp – twice. Andy Murray’s historic Wimbledon win earned him a second appearance in the Royal Mail’s stamp collection, the first being after he won gold at the 2012 London Summer Olympics.
The latest “Andy Murray Wimbledon Champion” collection of stamps features four images of the Scot, two of which are with him holding the coveted trophy and two action shots from the championship match. The stamp collection is available in four varieties: a Miniature Sheet, a Presentation Pack, a First Day Cover for UK addresses with an SW19 postmark, and a First Day Cover for non-UK addresses with an SW19 postmark.
Upon seeing the finished product, Murray had this to say to the Royal Mail via Facebook: “Thanks Royal Mail - I never expected to see my face on a stamp again. It's a real honour.”
