As Team Poland’s United Cup co-captain, Agnieska Radwanska has spent the week with a stunning courtside view of Iga Swiatek, her compatriot and the current dominant World No.1 on the WTA Tour. To say that Radwanska, a former World No.2 and Wimbledon finalist who won 20 titles on tour, is thoroughly impressed would be an understatement.
Let’s be honest: she’s blown away.
“When you watch her live you can really see how brutal her power is,” the Polish United Cup captain said. “When she’s on fire it’s unstoppable. She can do anything on court. Sometimes the girls have to play 200 percent of their level to play a rally with Iga.”
Swiatek has won all five of her matches at United Cup, featuring singles win in straight sets over Yulia Putintseva, Belinda Bencic and Martina Trevisan, as well as two mixed doubles victories alongside top Polish man Hubert Hurkacz.
Poland will take on the United States in the semifinals on Friday in Sydney, where Swiatek is slated to face top American Jessica Pegula.
