Roger Federer launched his Australian Open title defense baffling Aljaz Bedene before bamboozling actor-comedian Will Ferrell in his post-match interview.

Ferrell, channeling his Ron Burgundy anchor-man character, started the interview with Federer and Hall of Famer John McEnroe dead-panning "It's great to be here with two tennis legends: Roger Federer and John McIntosh."

Asked to compare the interview styles of Ferrell and McEnroe, Federer said: "Totally different. Will Ferrell is a bit more intense, I thought. I was a bit scared. Stood there, didn't look at me, just was like focusing on the questions. I was a bit worried it was going to come my way. I'm happy I dodged some questions there."

Federer was in fine improvisational form throughout his first-round win.
