Hyeon Chung dished out a fifth-set bagel to fourth-seeded Alexander Zverev and became just the third man in history to score a straight-sets win over Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open.
The 58th-ranked Chung's dynamic Melbourne performance is a prelude to a major break-out season in 2018, says ESPN analyst Brad Gilbert.
Djokovic: Chung Will Be Top 10
The Winning Ugly author predicted not only will Chung qualify for the Nitto ATP Finals in November, he "will finish the year ranked higher than [Alexander] Zverev."
Zverev, who won two Masters titles in 2017, is ranked fourth.
Gilbert, who previously coached Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick and Andy Murray, calls Chung's backhand return the best in the game and compares him favorably with two former champions.
"If you put Lleyton Hewitt and Mecir in a blender, you're getting Chung," Gilbert said.
