After Chung recorded the shocker of the 2018 Australian Open by knocking off Djokovic, 7-6 (4), 7-5, 7-6 (3), the six-time Australian Open champion recognized the similarities in their styles and said Chung is headed for the Top 10.
"We do play very similar," Djokovic said. "He definitely has the game to be a Top-10 player, without a doubt. How far he can go, that depends on him. Obviously I respect him a lot because he's a hard worker, he's disciplined, he's a nice guy, he's quiet. You can see that he cares about his career and his performances. So I'm sure that he's going to get some really good results in the future."
Chung joined Roger Federer and Marat Safin as just the third man to defeat Djokovic in straight sets in Melbourne Park and he did it two years after the Serbian swept him out of the Australian Open in the opening round.
"I was hoping that I could take the match to the fourth set," Djokovic said. "Chung obviously hasn't played too many of the long matches. I was maybe hoping that's where I'm going to look for my chances.
"He just played, in the clutch moments, some really high-quality tennis. Deserved the win."
