Second Serve

Venus Williams was all class and a lot of laughs during her runner-up speech at the Aussie Open. Williams has a lot to smile about. At 36 she became the second-oldest woman to ever play a Grand Slam final in the Open Era and she also reached a Grand Slam final for the first time since 2009, breaking the record for longest time between Grand Slam appearances.

Venus fell to her sister Serena in the final, 6-4, 6-4, but as she said in her speech, “Your win has always been my win, and I think you know that.”
