Bernard Tomic will not tolerate infestation.

When bugs descended on the Brisbane court, Tomic lent a helping foot to the grounds crew using sweepers and towels to try to thwart the invasion.

The insect invasion did not stop Tomic from swatting 19 aces to defeat nemesis Radek Stepanek for the first time, 7-6 (6), 4-6, 7-6 (4), in a two hour, 37-minute thriller.



The seventh-seeded Australian will face second-seeded Kei Nishikori in the quarterfinals. Nishikori swept Tomic, 6-0, 6-4, in the 2015 Brisbane quarterfinals.
