The Australian Open hopes of world No. 8 Caroline Wozniacki hit a speed bump on Monday down under, as the great Dane sought on-court medical assistance for an injured left wrist three times during her match with Barbora Zahlavova Strycova.

Eventually, Wozniacki was forced to retire down a set and level at 1-all in the second, but she hopes to be fine before next week’s Australian Open begins.
"I felt it during one shot," Wozniacki said, according to the AP. "I hit it against the wind and hit it late and I felt it in my wrist. I've had it before so I kind of know what it is. It's painful every time I had to hit a backhand and I didn't want make it worse before Melbourne, so I'm just going to try and get some treatment on it and try and get ready for next week."
Wozniacki, a finalist last week in Auckland, says she felt the wrist was getting worse as the match progressed and so retired to avoid any further complications.
