Second Serve

Ahead of the Moorila Hobart International this week, No. 5 seed Sloane Stephens took some time out of her tournament preparations to visit the Great Euro Circus, which is currently touring Down Under.

And boy, did she get more than she bargained for.

Stephens got the chance to understand exactly what it's like to be the centerpiece of knife-thrower Alfredo Silva's act when the professional set her up against a board and threw knives in a line alongside her. After explaining to Stephens exactly how to position herself, Silva went to work and the American came out unscathed.

"He threw knives at me, and I'm still alive," Stephens said afterwards. "I made it!"

Stephens won her opening round match in Hobart against Monica Niculescu, before falling 6-3, 6-1 to Heather Watson in the second round.
