Kei Nishikori and Simona Halep are bringing a new brand of Burn to the baseline.
The pair are launching Wilson's new line of Burn racquets, designed for the performance player, at the Australian Open.
U.S. Open runner-up Nishikori and French Open finalist Halep and Vasek Pospisil are wielding the black-and-orange Burn Down Under.
There are five racquets in the Burn unit. Each frame has a head size of 100 square inches. It is the brand's first racquet line to apply Wilson's new PlayerID system, which categorizes three types of playing styles: baseliner, attacker and all courter.
Wilson says the new racquet is built with high performance carbon fiber, designed to increase stiffness and deliver explosive power. A longer handle is built for more leverage on the two-handed backhand. Wilson's Spin Effect technology is featured in the 100S, 100LS and 100ULS versions of the racquet. The 100S ha san 18 x 16 string pattern and weighs 10.7 ounces (303 grams) unstrung.
Pre-sale for the Burn 100S and Burn 100ULS begins February 2, and for the Burn 100LS and the Burn 100 on March 2. The Burn will retail for $199. The racquet will be in retail stores in mid-February.
