Aryna Sabalenka has always had a thing for modeling. The 25-year-old Belarusian loves to flirt with the camera and she’s never been shy about posting the result on her social media feeds.
After her successful title defense at the 2024 Australian Open, Sabalenka got to live another dream of hers – she graced the January cover of Vogue Australia Digital.
She also talked to the magazine about what it means to become the first woman to successfully defend the women’s singles title in Melbourne since Victoria Azarenka in 2013.
“I think the best thing was I was able to handle pressure really well and compete at such a high level with all the pressure, which was the best thing I did over the last couple of weeks,” Sabalenka told Vogue.
The two-time major champion says it was tough to ignore the pressure, because it was a topic she simply couldn’t avoid.
“You try to ignore it but you see your pictures everywhere,” she said. “Like, every interview you get these questions about defending the title. You try to ignore it but still it’s in your head. For two weeks you’re really fighting with yourself inside, trying not to let these doubts come into your mind. It’s been a really tough couple of weeks and I’m really happy I was able to get through.”
