Taylor Fritz is set to become the first American man to hold a Top-5 ranking since Andy Roddick in the week of September 7-13 2009.

The current World No.7, fresh off his fifth career title at the Delray Beach Open on Sunday, is set to rise to No.5 in the rankings on Monday February 27, due to the fact that both Andrey Rublev and Rafael Nadal are dropping 500 points from their ranking this week.

No.5-ranked Rublev and No.6-ranked Nadal will not be defending those points this week.

Fritz, will have to play defense after that, as the American will be dropping 1,000 points from his BNP Paribas Open title on March 20. His performance at that tournament, where he reached the semifinals in 2021 and won the title in 2022, will be critical.

No matter what happens then, it is cause for celebration that Fritz, one of 11 American men currently ranked inside the Top-50, has made the jump. The 25-year-old Southern California native is 11-3 on the season and 57-24 with four titles since the start of 2022.
