Carlos Alcaraz has withdrawn from Abierto Mexicana Telcel in Acapulco, due to a Grade 1 strain in his right hamstring. The Spaniard, who played back-to-back finals in Buenos Aires and Rio over the last two weeks, was the top seed in Acapulco.
“Unfortunately I won't be able to play in @AbiertoTelcel,” Alcaraz said on social media. “I have a grade 1 strain in my right hamstring that will keep me out for several days, according to the tests we did this morning.
“I'm really sad I can't compete here, but now it's time to think about recovering and being ready as soon as possible. I hope to see you all soon!”
Cameron Norrie, who played Alcaraz in the Buenos Aires and Rio final (winning in Rio and losing in Buenos Aires), will also miss Acapulco. The No.5 seed pulled out of the draw today, citing fatigue.
“I am super disappointed that I won't be able to play in @AbiertoTelcel this year,” he posted on social media. “Unfortunately my body is completely fatigued and I need some time to recover. This is one of my favorite tournaments in the world and it’s sad to not be able to play in front of these amazing fans.”
