Becker: Two Better Than Federer
The freak injury occurred when a ball ricocheted off his racquet into his left eye forcing Goffin to retire from a riveting semifinal with Grigor Dimitrov leading, 6-3, 0-1. Goffin also pulled out of Marseille
Today, Goffin posted this Instagram image of his eye looking better and his girlfriend in the driver's seat.
"My eye is recovering well and doctors are really positive for my fast recovery," Goffin posted on Instagram. "I am very disappointed not to be able to play at the @open13marseille and I hope to be back soon on court! The only good thing about this bad situation is that I have my personal driver."
In the second game of the second set of the Rotterdam semifinal, Goffin was lunging for a backhand volley when the ball ricocheted off the frame of his Wilson racquet and struck him in the left eye.
Following about a five-minute medical timeout for treatment, Goffin was forced to retire.
